Writing/Directing:
Paul Dean has been writing and directing short films, commercials, in-house videos and music videos for 15 years. Selected for a script writing course with North West Vision (UK Film Council), ‘First Take: Distinct Voices, Diverse Lives’, Paul set about writing and directing his first 15 minute short “The Lovers” - eventually earning praise for the quality and scope of the zero-budget film. He was then shortlisted for the ‘NW Vision Digishorts’ scheme where he developed his craft under mentor Paul Fraser, writer on the Shane Meadow’s film, “Dead Man’s Shoes”. He has since gone on to write and direct on many projects.

Producing:
Paul has spent the past six years based in Prague and working throughout Europe, shooting in Czechia, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Poland, the Ukraine and elsewhere, working on hundreds of student films, music videos, tv shows, commercials, features and shorts and learning his craft on set with some of the world’s best directors and cinematographers. He has extensive contacts in the Czech film industry and is able to provide access to professional crews, locations and equipment at the best prices.

Editing:
Paul has been editing in Final Cut Pro X since late 2011. He is an experienced editor with dozens of completed projects, from music videos and shorts through to full length documentary projects. Working from home, he has an extensive library of effects and plugins, a top end IMac computer set up and over 50TB of project storage. He also has extensive experience working in Motion, After Effects, Photoshop and is capable of delivering a complete final project including basic effects, titles, sound design and color correction.

Cinematography, Gaffering, Grip:
Paul has worked on dozens of sets, from student films to full length feature film projects. He has hundreds of hours of experience with Red Cameras, Arri Alexas, Black Magic, Canon and Panasonic cameras. He has experience working with drones, steadicams, Movi, Ronin, and all professional lighting and grip equipment, including Arri and Panavision.

After more than a decade in the film industry, Paul has worked in just about every department on set - on both sides of the camera - and he continues to work as a freelance director, cinematographer and editor. He is currently editing his first feature length documentary, "The Road Less Run", and has just completed directing two short films, "Today's the Day" and "A Box Full of Baggage." All three are due to be released in early 2018.
